Founded in 2014, the Public Arts Commission had one goal: to see more public art in Grand Forks, ND. Since then, PAC has worked to execute that goal with not just one large project, but 15 individual projects scattered throughout Downtown Grand Forks and 42nd Ave, as well as 2 large annual events, and new galleries and exhibits showcase local artists.

Our Mission

The mission of the Public Arts Commission (PAC) is to create a more vibrant cultural life for all who live in or visit Grand Forks. PAC works to fulfill this mission by developing a public art and culture master plan and a public arts program, in collaboration with the City of Grand Forks; the Community Foundation of Grand Forks, East Grand Forks, and region; Parks and Recreation District; arts entities; and the private sector. Through these activities, PAC aims to nurture a thriving environment for arts and for culture in the region.

The point with public art, I think, is that it helps people form a sense that the place they live in is unique, that there’s something special about it.
